Forgiveness, How Far Do You Take It?

has it ever happened to you, something so dispicable you would rather go to your grave, not having forgiven someone a wrong they had done you, hopeful that god would sort it out in the end?

mind you, i know things like child molestation, rape and murder are things for which it is difficult, if not impossible, to be forgiving of.

that being said, where does one draw the line on forgiveness?

When I started to get serious with my boyfriend, he still lived with his mother. He was taking care of her because she said she had cancer and was terminally ill. She said that she would die soon. He was put through so much grief and then...

we found out she was lying about the whole thing!!! When we busted her out and moved away, she had no apologies for what she did, and still shows no remorse whatsover! We were paying all her bills so she could lay in her bed all day in peace! We were such suckers!

My boyfriend and I are still mad about it five years later and I don't know if we will ever be able to forgive her. Maybe if she said something like "sorry" it would be easier.

my parents said it was against our religion to buy them.

i buy like 20 boxes everytime they come around.

The funniest thing in the world to me was when my mom would sit there at the door trying to explain to a little girl about Jehovah's special organization and why we couldn't support anyone else.

The little girls would just get kinda a blank look on their face, thinking "Jesus Lady, I'm just tryin to sell some freakin cookies here..."

I think if Jehovah didn't want us to support the Girl Scouts, then he wouldn't have made Girl Scout cookies!

...Well, I'm glad I got that off my chest. Now back to my regularly scheduled caramel deLites.

Were You Affected By Racism In The Congregation???

i grew up in an inner city area with many ethnic groups.

i saw very little racism or prejudice in the hall.

i'm wondering if my experience is isolated.

My dad seemed to think that all black people were hilarious. I don't know why, but he would just get this little giggle when talking about black people.. Oh yeah, and he would call them colored brothers and colored sisters. ex.."didn't so and so marry a colored sister?"

One time he told me this ridiculous story about how there were two congregations that they combined in Illinois. One congregation had mostly blacks and the other whites. So when they got together, the white people sat on one side, and the black people sat on the other side...divided. That's when my dad had the brilliant idea to mix them up. He said that somehow by being nice to the black people, they decided to sit on the white people side, and then everyone was just happily mixed because of my dad.

Also, he made this huge deal going out of his way to be nice to black people. He would be super nice to them with this huge grin on his face like he was performing some public service...like, look at me! I'm being nice to the coloreds!

Yuck.

How is JWD doing ?

someone came out with the tired old claim that the site is dying, there is a mas exodus, yada yada yada.

some people would really love for that to happen, i know .... we have gone down a few places on bigboards simply because some new sites were added to it that have more posts - the sites we are ranked alongside all went down by the same amount at the same time and we've gone up against some and down against others (not that sheer post numbers matter that much).

also, a combination of optimising page caching and alexa changing how they rank things has reduced the ranking on that too ... but how are we really doing?.
